درخت دود
کافی است در تهران زندگی کنید یا از بیرون وارد آن شوید. اغلب اوقات، ابری مصنوعی از دیاکسید گوگرد، ذرات معلق و منوکسید کربن بر فراز شهر دیده میشود. این موهبت ساخته دست ماست و تهران را در فهرست آلودهترین شهرهای جهان قرار داده است.
در این اثر، درخت همچون انسانی بازتعریف میشود. او زیر سایه جامعه صنعتی ایستاده است. زره و کلاهخودی که بر تن و سر دارد، محصول همین جامعه است. در این وضعیت، او در پیکاری شعاری تلاش میکند بحرانها را حل کند.
برای نشاندادن این وضعیت، از توری فلزی استفاده شده است. این تور، بهطور نمادین ابری از آلودگی را نمایش میدهد. همچنین، شاخههای فلزی تازهای به درخت اضافه میشوند. این شاخهها نشانه راهکارهایی هستند که فرهنگ جاری ارائه میدهد.
با این حال، باید توجه کرد که هر جامعه امروزین میکوشد بحرانهایی را که محصول فناوری است، با همان فناوری برطرف کند. از همین رو، پرسش اصلی همچنان باقی میماند: آیا این چرخه پایان دارد؟
Smoke Tree
It is enough to live in Tehran or to enter it from outside. Most of the time, a man-made cloud of sulfur dioxide, particulate matter, and carbon monoxide hovers above the city. This “gift” of our own making has placed Tehran among the most polluted cities in the world.
In this artwork, the tree is redefined as a human being. It stands under the shadow of industrial society. The armor and helmet it wears are products of this very system. In such a condition, it struggles—almost slogan-like—to solve its crises.
To represent this, metal mesh has been used symbolically to create a cloud of pollution. New metallic branches are also grafted onto the tree. These branches reflect the supposed solutions offered by the current culture.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that every society today seeks to address crises created by technology with the very same technology. Thus, the main question remains: does this cycle ever end?
